Just finished watching my favorite show The Voice & was rooting for Damien very avidly. Now I can’t help but praise God after seeing Craig Wayne Boyd win. Why? Because about two episodes ago he chose to sing a gospel song “Old Rugged Cross” and a few people started to discuss why it wasn’t a good idea. All I could think of during the conversation was exactly what Pharrell said after the performance “To God be the Glory”. This is also what I am thinking now after seeing Craig Wayne Boyde win this season of The Voice against the most phenomenally talented singers I’ve ever seen on the show.
I say all of this to say that in pursuing your dreams there is always a moment where you feel entitled to being successful and you focus on your gift more than you focus on your Savior Jesus Christ. The feeling of entitlement never comes when your working your butt off & not seeing any benefits. It comes when you have people constantly telling you your doing well & going to be successful. In that latter moment it is so critical that you stay grounded in Christ & realize you are where you are because of Him. Without Him you can only get so far but with Him (the One who not only created a world where your gift could thrive or in my case invented a sport with an event just for me to succeed in for His Glory but also created & meshed your gift with your personality in an environment that works best for you to do one thing that no one else in your generation can do like you) skies the limit. I think we all underestimate how unique we really are and the different ways God has to mold us into becoming all He wants us to be. We need to stop underestimating & hiding our uniqueness so that God can guide us into our own version of success.
So since Thanksgiving just passed & Christmas is coming please remember to always be more thankful for your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ than the gift He gave to you. Because who knows more to do with that gift than Him!💜
