Happy Thanksgiving & Merry Christmas!!

12.17.2014 by oul_admin // Leave a Comment

Just finished watching my favorite show The Voice & was rooting for Damien very avidly. Now I can’t help but praise God after seeing Craig Wayne Boyd win. Why? Because about two episodes ago he chose to sing a gospel song “Old Rugged Cross” and a few people started to discuss why it wasn’t a good idea. All I could think of during the conversation was exactly what Pharrell said after the performance “To God be the Glory”. This is also what I am thinking now after seeing Craig Wayne Boyde win this season of The Voice against the most phenomenally talented singers I’ve ever seen on the show.

I say all of this to say that in pursuing  your dreams there is always a moment where you feel entitled to being successful and you focus on  your gift more than you focus on your Savior Jesus Christ. The feeling of entitlement never comes when your working your butt off  & not seeing any benefits. It comes when you have people constantly telling you your doing well & going to be successful. In that latter moment it is so critical that you stay grounded in Christ  & realize you are where you are because of Him. Without Him you can only get so far but with Him (the One who not only created a world where your gift could thrive or in my case invented a sport with an event just for me to succeed in for His Glory but also created & meshed your gift with your personality in an environment that works best for you to do one thing that no one else in your generation can do like you) skies the limit. I think we all underestimate how unique we really are and the different ways God has to mold us into becoming all He wants us to be. We need to stop  underestimating & hiding  our uniqueness so that God can guide us into our own version of success.

So since Thanksgiving just passed & Christmas is coming please remember to always be more thankful for your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ than the gift He gave to you. Because who knows more to do with that gift than Him!💜

My Favorite Natural Products

12.05.2014 by oul_admin // Leave a Comment

I’ve been trying to be more natural in what I consume and also in the products I put on my skin and hair.  These are my current favorites that I always find myself restocking.
From right to left.

Tazo Zen Green Tea.  The spearmint and lemongrass in this tea makes the flavor pop! I don’t even need to add tea or sugar.  The benefits of green tea are endless!

Purity Facial Cleanser. Very gentle and cleans my face very well.

Jane Carter Solution Nourish & Shine. This is my alternative to grease.  When I wear braids or a put my hair in a bun this is my go-to product.

Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner.  This product saved my hair when I lived in dry Colorado.  It is the best detangling product I’ve used and it leaves my hair soft and moisturized.

Yes to Cucumbers Facial Wipes.  Gently removes all dirt, oil, and makeup easily off my face and makes my skin feel so soft.

Ole Henriksen Three Little Wonders.  The only natural product I’ve found to address my hyper-pigmentation.  I only wish I didn’t have to add sunscreen to the regimen during the day.

Bite Beauty Mulberry Luminous Creme Lipstick.  The most moisturizing lipstick I’ve ever tried.  The ingredients in the product are even safe enough to eat.

The Body Shop SpaWisdom Polynesia Miracle Monoi Oil.  This is the best smelling product of the bunch and the coconut oil in this mixture does wonders for my hair.

I’d love to hear your favorite products below!

7 Things I’m Thankful For

11.28.2014 by oul_admin // Leave a Comment

1. God.  Without him, I am nothing.

2.  Family.  I love my big family, craziness and all.  My family keeps me grounded and has taught me the power of unconditional love and resiliency.  The new members of my family I’ve gained through marriage have welcomed me whole-heartedly into their lives.

3. Friends.  My close friends have become more like family and we’ve grown even closer this year.

4.  Food.  I truly enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner this year.  My husband even made delicious salmon for me, the non-meat eater.  This year I’ve also seen love poured out to me so many times through food.  At the times when life was especially rough, those meals were a source of hope and strength for each day.

5.  Forgiveness.  I’d be a liar if I said that forgiveness has been easy for me this year.  There have been a few people that I’ve found it hard to forgive, but I have made the choice to forgive even if my pride tells me not to.

6.  A roof over my head.  A few months ago, my husband and I moved back to my hometown to be closer to my family to help out.  We’ve been staying with my dad until we find a home.  It has not been easy moving from having our own places to living in one bedroom, but we’ve learned to be more content no matter where we are.  But we may have found the perfect place and may be homeowners soon!

7. Trials.  Despite all that I’ve been through lately, I still have joy.  Losing my mother this year, my best friend and my biggest supporter, rocked my world.  Yet, my mother taught me to endure no matter the situation.  I’ll end with this scripture.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that testing of your faith develops perseverance.”  James 1:2-3
